A Backyard for Grass, Gardens, and Relaxation

We designed and installed a new patio in this south Minneapolis backyard where the homeowners will relax and enjoy their space. Our client chose a terra cotta coloration for the center of the patio; we framed in regular concrete to tie-in with the existing concrete walkway.

Two swales were also created—one from each drainpipe at the corners of the house—to direct water into the yard and garden, away from the house.

To enrich the soil for the trees, perennials, and grass that our client will plant, we’re spreading a layer of rich compost.

The layer of shredded mulch we spread on top of the compost diminishes moisture evaporation, hinders the growth of weeds, and gives the garden a finished look.

The site is clean and ready for our client to plant their grass and gardens, and enjoy their new patio.
