Relishing Spring Cleanup
Words & images by GreenSpace team member Sue Filbin
We begin each season by doing garden cleanups for our steadfast clients. In this garden, we were pleased to observe that the tree protectors and chicken wire we installed last fall prevented damage by rabbits to shrubs and trees.
Although each client—and therefore each garden—is distinctive and the weather is a constant variable, some things stay the same:
The gratitude we feel when clients welcome us back to the gardens we tend with a sense of belonging and pride.
The good fortune we feel to notice the gifts of nature—a robin’s nest and sprouts of Solomon’s Seal (Polygonatum biflorum) and Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense).
The satisfaction we feel when we transform gardens from dormant leaf repositories to renewed beds full of potential.
